This year marks 41 years since the first official reports of the condition later known as AIDS.

On World AIDS Day (WAD) 2022, we remember the more than 32 million people lost to HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) worldwide. We’ll also look forward, remembering the 38 million people who currently live with HIV.

 

Joins us on 1st December for candlelight vigils in Brisbane or Cairns or one of the many other WAD 2022 events across the state, more information below.

Queensland World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigils

BRISBANE WORLD AIDS DAY CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
 

Each year people come together to remember those in our communities who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS, and remember them in front of the wonderful quiet setting down at New Farm.
 

Join us for the Brisbane World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil at New Farm Park Rotunda, 1042 Brunswick Street, New Farm on Thursday the 1st of December from 6:30pm for a 7pm start, as we remember those who have lost their lives and come before us. All are welcome.​

CAIRNS WORLD AIDS DAY CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
 

Each year people come together to remember those in our communities who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS, and remember them in front of the wonderful setting, in front of waterways and tropical landscapes.

 

Join us for the Cairns World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil at the Cairns Esplanade, Western Events Lawn on Thursday the 1st of December from 5:30pm for a 6pm start, as we remember those who have lost their lives and come before us. All are welcome.

SUNSHINE COAST WORLD AIDS DAY CANDLELIGHT VIGIL

Each year people come together to remember those in our communities who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS, in a beautiful and comfortable setting.

 

Join us for the Sunshine Coast World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil at the University of the Sunshine Coast Art Gallery, (AG), 90 Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs, on Thursday 1 December from 11am for an 11:30am start, as we remember those who have lost their lives and come before us.

 

All are welcome. A light lunch will be provided.

These events are planned with COVID safety in mind. We will have hand sanitiser and masks available for folks on arrival. We encourage all to practice physical distancing.
