A gentle, beginner-friendly sewing workshop designed to help you get familiar with a sewing machine and practise a few simple, practical clothing alterations. In this one-off session, LGBTIQA+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy community members can learn basic sewing machine skills and try out easy alterations in a relaxed, low-pressure space. Bring along a piece of clothing you’d like to adjust, mend or personalise - or practise using items from our Rainbow Threads community wardrobe. No prior sewing experience is needed. This workshop centres accessibility, creativity and confidence-building rather than perfection - it’s all about learning the basics and giving things a go. Got clothes you love but wish they fit better? Join us for a relaxed, hands-on clothing alteration workshop facilitated by a queer non-binary seamstrex. This is an inclusive space to learn practical sewing skills, experiment with style, and make small changes that help your clothes feel more you. In this workshop, we’ll focus on practical alteration skills such as cropping tops, rolling sleeves, and hemming, alongside more creative and body-affirming techniques like adjusting waistbands for different body shapes or transforming pants into shorts. No sewing experience needed - this is about learning, trying things out, and supporting each other. Bring items from home that need some love, or explore our on-site Rainbow Threads wardrobe. This six-session series is facilitated by an experienced artist who will guide you through the fundamentals of art and creative drawing, using gentle prompts and practical techniques to support self-expression, play, and skill-building. The focus is on building a strong creative foundation - giving you tools and confidence to start (or deepen) your own creative journey beyond the sessions. No prior art experience is needed, and there’s no pressure to make anything perfect. This is about curiosity, experimentation, and finding your own creative voice. You don’t need any special equipment - just basic materials you likely already have at home, or whatever you enjoy working with. You’re encouraged to join all six sessions to gradually build skills and confidence, but you’re also very welcome to drop in casually if that suits you better.
